StockLane is an educational and informational tool. It does not report actual product sales, and it is not financial, investment, procurement, or professional business advice. Nothing here is a recommendation to buy, sell, stock, or ship anything. Use the App at your own discretion and verify anything important against your own systems and primary sources.
What the "Demand Signal" Means
The demand figures shown are a modeled DEMAND SIGNAL INDEX, not measured sales. For each product the App blends several free, public indicators into a relative score: (1) short-term weather from Open-Meteo for your selected cities, (2) public-interest momentum from Wikimedia (Wikipedia) pageviews for related topics, (3) official month-over-month or year-over-year retail-trade movement for the product's category, and (4) known calendar events. The result is a directional, comparative signal for learning and exploration — it can be wrong, delayed, or incomplete.
How History Charts Are Built
Trend lines are recorded only from real feed refreshes while you use the App. StockLane does not fabricate or back-fill history, so charts start sparse and fill in over time as live data arrives.
Source 1 — Weather (Open-Meteo)
Weather forecasts are provided by Open-Meteo, used under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 (CC BY 4.0) licence. Attribution: "Weather data by Open-Meteo.com." Open-Meteo does not endorse this App.
Source 2 — Public Interest (Wikimedia)
Public-interest signals come from the Wikimedia Pageviews API. Wikipedia content and associated data are made available by the Wikimedia Foundation under CC BY-SA 3.0 and the Wikimedia REST API terms of use. Pageviews indicate topic interest, which is only a proxy for demand. Wikimedia does not endorse this App.
Source 3 — Canada Retail (Statistics Canada)
Canadian retail figures are derived from Statistics Canada's Retail Trade data (Monthly Retail Trade Survey), retrieved via the Statistics Canada Web Data Service and used under the Statistics Canada Open Licence. Required statement: "Adapted from Statistics Canada, Retail Trade. This does not constitute an endorsement by Statistics Canada of this product." See statcan.gc.ca.
Source 4 — US Retail (U.S. Census Bureau)
United States retail figures are derived from the U.S. Census Bureau Monthly Retail Trade Survey (MARTS/MRTS) via the Census Data API, which is U.S. Government public-domain data. Source: U.S. Census Bureau. Per Census policy, this product is not endorsed or certified by the U.S. Census Bureau; any views are those of the App and not the Bureau. A free Census API key is required and is stored only on your device. See census.gov.
Accuracy & Limitations
Third-party feeds can be delayed, revised, rate-limited, or temporarily unavailable, and the App's blending method is a simplified model. Figures may not match official releases. StockLane makes no warranty as to accuracy, timeliness, or fitness for any purpose, and is not liable for decisions made in reliance on the App.
